I love that you found my post about this! I'd never even heard of it until the other day but when I started reading about it I was like... this is what I do. Yes, it's intense and all-consuming. I always feel like other genealogists are confused by the way I research, because I follow a lot of different paths way beyond who someone's parents were as a general rule. So glad to be able to better describe it after hearing about some of these concepts, it sounds much better than my previous explanation, which was kind of, "I have ADHD and my research methods show it." LOL but really it's not that I can't focus on one question, I just like to answer questions by researching lots of people connected in any way to my focus.
